What Makes Gourmet Coffee Special?

Coffee is one of the most popular drinks on the planet, and for good reason. It can be served in a variety of ways and to meet everyone's preference. Coffee beans are grown all over the world and the quality of the bean depends on the region and the way it is harvested and roasted. Simply put, not all coffee is created equal.

Gourmet coffee is made from 100% Arabica beans which have a full body, rich aroma, and great flavor. Other mass produced coffee uses Robusta beans which are cheaper to produce and have less flavor. Robusta beans tend to be lighter in body and make a coffee with a bitter taste. This is because Robusta beans have a higher caffeine content which leads to more acidity in your coffee.

Arabica beans are generally grown in tropical regions and at high altitude which gives the coffee beans a unique flavor. It is grown in places like Central and South America, Africa, Hawaii, and the Middle East. Many of the Arabica beans that are harvested are grown on small farms that use sustainable methods. Sustainable farming produces gourmet coffee beans that are grown in a way that preserves nature by using crop and water preserving methods.

There is no actual definition for exactly what gourmet coffee is, however, it is generally considered to be coffee that is made with only the highest quality beans, Gourmet coffee can be flavored as long as the ingredients are also of high quality. This will allow the coffee to have a rich taste, dark color, and rich aroma.

Gourmet coffee cab be flavored by adding additional oils or syrups that are added right after roasting. Typical flavors include Hazelnut, French Vanilla, Caramel, Cinnabun, and Mocha. It's a great way to change up your morning routine. Just be careful to do your homework before you buy flavored coffee as some roasters will use low quality synthetic flavorings that create a bitter or acidic taste. Inner Peak Coffee Company uses only all natural high quality flavoring oils in our our gourmet flavored coffee.
